From the above table, in simple terms, the Business Edition has higher permissions, better performance, and is essentially the Professional Edition, with support for 32 CPU cores and 128GB of memory. Next is the Standard Edition.
However, there are some differences that are not mentioned in the table. We specifically compared the Standard Edition and the Professional Edition of PD17. Please continue reading:
Based on our actual experience, the differences between the Standard Edition and the Professional Edition are as follows:#
- Right-click the PD icon in the Dock and select About PD to view the PD version.
The Standard Edition is identified as Standard Edition (or has no identification), while the Professional Edition is identified as Pro Edition.
- The Standard Edition supports a maximum of 4 CPU cores and 8GB of memory, while the Professional Edition supports 32 CPU cores and 128GB of memory.
You can right-click the PD icon in the Dock, select Control Center, enter Virtual Machine Settings - Hardware - CPU and Memory, and you will see:
- The Standard Edition has only 2 configuration templates, while the Professional Edition has 5.
- The Standard Edition does not have resource optimization, while the Professional Edition has resource optimization.
- The Standard Edition does not have developer tools, while the Professional Edition has developer tools.
- The Standard Edition of PD does not have a network option in the preferences, while the Professional Edition has a network option where you can set IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
- The Standard Edition does not have the Link Clone/Archive/Transfer function, while the Professional Edition has the Link Clone/Archive/Transfer function.
